323 street: the abandoned street; part 1

in my city, there is an abandoned street. that's 323 street, or the dangerous ally. little kids aren't allowed to look down it.  it's the worst dare of them all. it just ruins the city of Elissville, Tennessee. Only two people live close to that, and only one person lives on 323 street. one creepy little man named Aron Jelkins. I think he should be in an mental asylum. he kind of scares me. i prefer to stay away from that side of the town. i don't like the north side. because that's were the scary stuff is; the criminals, the mysterious happenings, the murders. now do you see my point? it's all because of that stupid 323 street, or the horror lane.
some say 323 street has evil magic. i totally understand why. on those dreadful days when i have to walk past it, i tend to sometimes see a greenish-blueish glow up in the sky, like a magical potion or spell. but, i don't exactly know what goes on and i never want to know, this life and the next. but i think it's just a flashlight, but i'm not so sure. but i don't know what else it could be, besides some kind of light.
i'm Ellis Walker, named after the amazing town of Elissville. i'm 10, and i will solve the frightening mystery of 323 street, no matter what i'll have to go through. i will do it.

Effects: A Journey to Popularity: part l

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.
-Confucius.
this quote is the motto of a  girl named Alisa Greenbelt who has a learning disability. she wants to be up with all the other popular girls, only one problem, they thing she's disabled and stupid. this is a story about the journey this young girl takes to get through middle school, and reach the top of the food chain. We all know the feeling, but do we know the..Effects?

Today, as I walked into the miserable building known as school, I heard Kelly Abraham and Elissa Mcmillan  telling their posse about Kelly's role in a movie, that she's going to be a lead in. I just wanted to rip her face right then and now. I HATE the populars. they annoy the heck out of me. well,  i kinda hate everyone who thinks I have some insane mental problem. i am just a little behind, and i go to the LRC for math. but only sometimes.

"hi Alisa, how are you?" Elissa said in a baby-sweet voice. that annoys me the most. all the people saying hi to me like i'm a baby. Well, I'm NOT. i hate this, i hate it!
"hi," i mumble back as i turn away. they keep murmuring about the movie, or that new store, or someones cell phone, or insatgram, or this,or that, or WHATEVER! i really don't care.

Taking the jump: 1

i stared off into the horizon. i listened to the wind sounds under my feet. i had to do this, or i would be stuck here forever. i just couldn't get myself to stay. i live in the village of Arelenis, the 3rd clearing in the Okearbe, the land of trees
. i couldn't stay. i would be tortured and, in a year or so, killed by Mr and Mrs Arnen, my watchers. they think i'm just a waste. useless. unwanted. worthless. so im going. i am leaving. nobody has left in 700 years, but I'll do it anyway. I've packed some clothes, a few cans of food, my water bottle, and boogo bear, my only memory from my real parents.
I have exactly no idea what to do, where to go, or how to get there, but i'll find out. i'll go somewhere safe. hey, maybe i'll find my real parents. i'll go to the clearing they ran away to. or, i'll find someone who cares about me. or maybe, i'll find both. either way, i'll be happy, at least happier then I am right now.
so, i just jumped, and i loved it. it felt odd and different and happy and wonderful and scary, all at one moment. it feels like i just one the raffle for life, where i win everything i will ever need. but then it also felt like i just jumped to my death. it felt so odd.

But even as that thought touched his mind, he knew, that for him, only the shadow that had bred him would be to drift home, and none of the substance, nor any hope of such, and without any stake in the rootless country.

The Wall prt IX

I wiggled in my seat. I needed to know. NOW.  "Every one is equally...I realize...You know, I was..." I had stopped listening. I was getting quite impatient. "Now time for what we gathered you here for, well, the most important reason, is the grouping results. we will go in alphabetical order, by last name. when you are called, you will come up here, and put your first finger on the touchstone." she announced. the touchstone was, and still is, the stone that quote-unquote would decide your fait. only the speaker, which happens to be the Leaderess, is the only one who knows how to read it. Well, everyone can kinda tell how to read it. but sometimes, it works oddly.
Sadly, i knew, after she said alphabetical order, I would be one of the first children to get pulled up. first it was Kimberly Abanan, who is a little strange. then Minchina Aden, the smartest person ever. soon, after about five more people, six to be exact, I was called.
Ooooooooooh no!! I was going! this was going to be a terrible, epic, dreadful, and crazy disaster. it was so scary even walking up there! it felt like people's eyes were burning holes in your back. you could feel every pair of eyes in the whole room. it looked like a mile till I would get there. Plus, all the mean and laughing faces. I wouldn't even survive the trek up. I was going to fall and faint, or worse, DIE. I wouldn't survive. there was no possible way on earth.
To Be Continued...

the Christmas Story: part 1

I could hear the Thump, thump, thump of the Christmas shoppers walking around the mall. This loud and obnoxious sound actually made me happy, it reminded me that Christmas is coming. Or Hanukkah, whichever holiday you celebrate. My name is Erica Walter, and I'm 12. I loooooooove the holidays. They just bring me joy and happiness. it reminds me of the days when I was little and all I would ever do is play with little gizmos and gadgets.
Anyways, I was going with my grandma. we are going to pull big surprise on my mother.we were getting all the holiday stuff ready for her. she would be so excited. all she would have to do is get our presents! this would be the best Christmas present ever for her. we were going to get all the food and all the gifts for everyone else. that we would hide them at my grandma's house and wait till Christmas Eve and then bring them in right in front of her!
but there was one problem. What if she got the stuff too? that would kinda be a problem, a big problem. so we were going to have to find a way to stop her.and not be mean about it let her find out let her find out. everyone in our family was in on this, and out of all the people in my family, I was chosen to buy the presents. And keep the big secret of what the gifts are. Plus, I'm the youngest. Out of 15.

Siblings

siblings. the most painful punishment of them all. the loud. the crazy. the obnoxious. the worst thing to ever happen to me is having siblings. i mean, they were born before me! it's not my fault! I didn't do anything earn this "burden".
if you are an only child then you are extremely lucky. you don't have to wake up every morning to craziness and chaos. and you don't always have to be careful because your brother has a Nerf gun. you can have a calm and relaxing day. if you have siblings, it's a different story. something's always going on. your sister forgot her glasses, your brother didn't finish his homework, someone forgot their backpack, somebody left their swimsuit at home, and many more. there's always something wrong.
the best days in the world are the days when your brother/sister AREN'T home. this means peace, quiet, calmness, and happiness. to me, this happens about once a year. that one day, like Christmas, when you can walk down the stairs and find something their (or not there). the one day where you can have a real smile all day long. yes, that one day where peace and quietness actually exists. well, if it actually does. sometimes, this mystical day never comes.
But there are also more good parts about siblings than bad parts. Siblings can be helpful, kind, and loving. They will be your lifelong bestfriend that will always be there for you. The will be assistance when you need it. They will be your automatic backup. They will be there for you.

These are MY thoughts on siblings

Wonder

In the book Wonder, by R.J Palacio, Auggie changes by having self esteem. Acorrding to the book on page 15, he says " Hi, I mumbled, putting my hand into his hand while I looked down into his feet."  This says that at the beginning of the book, he was very shy.

Costumes

As I've said before,I dance. And every dancer has to live with the punishment of costumes. Costumes are itchy, ugly, and annoying. And when you wear them, you usually have to stay in them for what feels like hours. But before you get your costume, you always want it. I have absolutely no idea why, but it's true. You always ask to see it, you always ask when it's coming, and you just always want to have it. But some costumes are good. So are super soft and NOT itchy, some are very, very pretty, and some just plain out rock! I love when I get those costumes, but it's extremely rare.
This is why I hate costumes.

the time when Mrs. Roberts approved our phone script

It was an average day. Well, only sort of average. Today, Mrs. Roberts was hopefully going to approve our phone script for sciracy. Sciracy is a class where you get to choose a project that with help the community and go through with it. We were going to call B Brooklyn pizza and interview them on their menu and ingredient choices. Today was the day. We had been working on our script for a very long time.
We walked up to Mrs. Roberts desk. It felt like it was a mile away. As we approached the line,we Heard the hammers banging.
"Hi Mrs. Roberts we have our script ready!" We cheered.
"Let me see it." Said Mrs Roberts, with her awesome British accent.
We handed over the computer for her to see. It felt like forever, even, thought it was merely two minutes. she handed us back the computer. I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I mean, I liked our script and I thought it was good, but I didn't know what anyone else would think.

Take Cover: section 1

3,000 years in the future, life is very different. Life is merely life and death. Life is war. To me, all I've ever done in my life was eat, sleep, fight. I was forced into this life. I am Ani Demirir, and I live in the world of Kalistu. We are the “good world”. The “bad world” is Aniua. There may be worlds, worlds that don’t fight, worlds that are peace.  Once you are a two yearling, you learn to fight. When you are five and have completed all of your overnight stay training, you fight. And you fight for the rest of your life. You will never stop. Well, not until a side wins. But everyone knows that won’t ever happen. This stupid war has been going on for almost 1,000 years.

This is what an average day will look like. Everyone wakes up from the sound of the first cannon, which is fired at 7 hour. Then you have a quarter hour to get ready. You have to be with the fighters in your group at 7 and 20 hour.  There are 10 groups. The cannon fires, the archers, the bullet, the messengers, the spies, the gun fires, the nuclears, the caretakers, the watchers, and the testers. I am in the archer group.  I shoot a bow and arrow from dusk till dawn. I shoot those terrible arrows until my hands bleed. I shoot till I’ve hit all the archers from Aniua. Sometimes, I don’t get to go home.

The Phone Call

Today was the day. The day we were going to call Brooklyn Pizza. We were going to interview them on the ingredients. Mrs. Roberts had already approved our script so we were ready. Today I was going to call them and talk to them. then the next time Zoeya would do the same.
Zoeya read out the number while I pressed them into the phone. I picked up the phone and it started ringing.
"Ring-Ring-Ring!" The phone sounded.
My fingers started to wiggle. This always happens to me when I'm nervous.
"Hello! This is Brooklyn Pizza, how may I help you?" The man on the other side of the phone said.
"Hello, we are the Food Detectives from Birmingham Covington School, we are doing a class project on Healthy Food May we speak to the manager? " I answered.
"You are speaking to him." Replied the manager.
"We are doing a project about healthy eating and healthy food and we were hoping to do some research in the local community. We were  wondering if we could possibly come and interview somebody at your restaurant about your menu and the choices you make about ingredients." I said.
"Sure, that sounds fine." He told us.
"What is your least busy time? We want to come when there shouldn't be a big crowd." I asked.
"Hmm, I'd say around 3:00-4:00." he said.
"Okay, what's a good date for you?" I asked.
"Most Fridays will work great." he answered.
"Okay, We'll check with our teachers and parents and get back to you as soon as possible." I politely announced.
"Thank you!" He replied.
This is the phone call we made today!

AHW: Christmas morning fiction story

Every holiday is super amazing. each and every single one. I love the feeling of waking up and knowing it's in important date. but one holiday in particular always stood out to me. this holiday is Christmas. i love the feeling of waking up and knowing there is something downstairs for you. I mean, it's not even your birthday but somebody loves you so much that they bring you a present. I think this feeling is just the most amazing feeling in the world. my favorite part is running down the stairs. I know it might sound crazy, but I love that little jolt of excitement you get in your fingers as you race down the stairs to see what you got.
By the way, I'm Alyssa Jerry (but you can call me Ally). I'm nine years old. I go to Weller West Elementary. and I am a so called super genius.

Thanksgiving Poem

This is my Thanksgiving Poem I shared with my family

The Nutcracker

Tonight, I saw the Nutcracker ballet. As I've probably said before, I am a dancer. A competitive dancer. so seeing this was so cool. It was so amazing! I could follow the story through movement, not words.  Plus, all the dancers were amazing, Especially the sugar plum fairies (which happen to be my favorite). Since I am not on pointe yet, it was really cool to watch a different kind of ballet since I still do ballet. I got to see leaps and jumps and turns and flips,All while people will balancing on their tip-tip toes. I loved seeing all the little kids dance, because they were spot on (and funny!). I liked how the kids ran around the stage and jumped up and down. I also thought the special effects were cool, like the smoke and the lights. I think that this is one of the most amazing ballets ever. So the next time you ever happen to be at the Detroit Opera House, I recommend seeing the Nutcracker.

the Wall pt VIII

We took off to the meeting hall. I was shivering the whole time. I wasn't cold, I was nervous. I didn't know what to expect.
We pulled up to the spot and dropped off the bicycle. We walked in. I could hear the chit-chat of other people. Liliana Went to the ten year room, while I went to the graduate room. I took a seat next to my friends. My best friend Estiha and my other friend Alli were talking.
"Silenia, are you nervous?" Alli asked.
"Of course." I replied.
A person came up to the pedestal on front of the seats.
"Attention! We have gathered you all here for many reasons. We have gathered you to challenge you, to Help you, to care for you, but most importantly to salute you." The speaker said.

The Wall part VII

Okay, today is the Grouping Ceremony. The ceremony were our groups and jobs are decided.
"Girls, Wake up!" The Children Watcher called.
I heard Mrs.Anderson, the Children Watcher, call and quickly woke up Liliana, my 10 year old sister. I'm 14, so I'm in charge. I quickly pulled out her uniform dress out of her drawer. believe me, it's so annoying having a little sister to take care of.
I did Liliana's hair, got her shoes, gave her breakfast, and finally got her on the backseat of my bicycle. I was so happy she was 10. that was the year she got her own bike. Plus, I'd be leaving her. she'd still have the Watchers to help her, but NOT me.

Forensics Published Piece

I sat quietly in the classroom. It felt so big and spacious. Me and my friend, Arya waited silently till it was our time to perform. We were third in line to perform. This was my first forensics competition and I was so nervous. A forensics competition works like this: you perform in a class room with other people in your category. You have to perform for three judges in three different rounds. In each round you go up to a table and draw for order. When you draw you get a piece of paper with a number. That number tells you when to go. Then you go up and perform for a judge. The judge ranks all the people in the category. then after all the rounds are done, you go to awards and see what place you were in. then you get the comments the judges wrote about your piece the next day.  I was in a duo (which is just one of the many categories) and I had a hilarious piece called action news by Jonathan Rand. All the other duos were really good. One of them was an episode of a popular T.V. show. Another was about a game of bingo.
"Hey Arya, are you nervous at all?" I quietly whispered.
"I'm really nervous, but I know we can do great." She answered.
"We’ve worked so hard so we'll do great!" I said.
 "A1 duo" the judge announced.
We quietly walked down the stairs to the performing spot. The other team from our school went up before us and was super amazing. They had good movements, great blocking, they were loud. I thought we were going to do great. I wondered what would happen if a chair fell over or some big distraction started happening.  But that wouldn't happen. We were going to do great, I quietly thought to myself.
“Judge ready? “Arya said.
“Timer ready?” I said.
“Wait one moment.” The judge said.
“Now go.” The judge said.
"It’s 5:59 and you’re watching WOMG action news..." Arya and I said.
Oh No, we started, I thought. But we were doing great, I thought again. I thought we were going to win. Actually, I KNEW we were going to win.
It felt like my lips knew exactly what to say without me even thinking about it. I thought I had been practicing a lot, so I knew exactly what to do, when to do it, and where to do it.
We were close to the end of our piece. We only had about two paragraphs left. We were almost done.
"Achoo!" I heard in the audience.
Our coach had told us to not get distracted. So we didn't. We kept going.  We put our heads down and finished. I felt my fingers wiggle. I felt so happy. I thought we had done amazing.
About five minutes later everyone gathered in the Media Center of the school for awards. Since it was our team hosting the competition, our coach came up and talked a little about awards and placements.
"We are giving awards to places 1-3." Mrs. Basset said.
“At least I'd get a medal no matter what I because there's only three duos,” I thought to myself.
The man announcing the awards had started speaking.
"First category, poetry. In 3rd place, Charlie Anderson. In 2nd place, Kate Adams-Boone. In 1st place, Vanessa Brown!" The man said.
"Next category, Declamation...”
"Next category, DI...” The man told the crowd.
I dosed off for a while, not paying much attention. I saw a lot of different people come up for a lot of different categories. Some categories had a lot of people. Others just had one person. Finally I heard them announce duo.
"In 3rd place, Layman and Mastrangelo." The man announced.
I realized that they were calling the duos by last name.
"In 2nd place, Delewen and Greenfield."
"In 1st place, Nelson and Goel!" said the man.
I thought I miss heard. But I didn't. We won! I was screaming with joy! Arya and I were so, so happy! We never thought we would win. We ran over to our parents and hugged them.
"We won, we won!" We screamed.
“Calm down!”Our moms said.

We were super happy we won. But we learned something important; if you dream and believe big, you will reach and achieve big!

The controller

When you see something you hear something. and when you hear something you feel something.but this feeling is no ordinary feeling. this feeling makes you think of something. something big. and when you think of that big thing, it makes you think of something smaller. then that makes you something even smaller. this goes on and on until you think of such a small thing that you can't think of anything anymore. this whole process goes on in seconds. this is the story of the person that knows what goes on. SWell, not right now. 800 years in the future.
"Every Child Is Destined For Greatness" says the big news board.
me and my best friend Lainia Keely, were walking to the Meeting Sector to go to Honoree Ceremony. it happens once a year. it's were all the people of Arisna honor the children. Mostly the 15 years. Which I just happen to be. By the way, i'm Alisa Estyes.

Book review & picture quiz from Mr. Lemoncello's Library

This is a picture quiz like in the book Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library. this is my review for that book.
this was the best battle book I have read so far. I love the fact that it has so many challenging puzzles to solve. it's full of excitement, secrets, action, mystery, and much more. It's a comedy mixed with a mystery mixed with a fantasy and more. it's so many different things! I just wish it talked a little bit more about the character's back stories. Like for example, i wanted to know how Bridgette Wage knew all about the writers. It was such a fun book to read I wish there was a second!

Goody Two Shoes (fiction story)

Everyone says Anna-Rose Selena Elizabeth McCann is a goody two-shoes. They have many reasons to. She never misses a single day of school. She has perfect grades. She’s never broken a rule. Yeah, she seems like that perfect straight A’s student. But she thought in a different way. She wanted to change all this. Anna-Rose wanted to fit in. She could change her life with the touch of a marble.
“Hurry up, mom!" I called out.
”I’m almost ready." my mom answered.
"We’re going to be LATE!!" I screamed.
I've never been late. Ever. And I'm in 7th grade. I didn't want to start today. I quickly pulled my purple jacket over my ugly green, red, white, and blue school uniform. We hopped in the car and drove off to Greenbrier Church Catholic School.
I ran straight to my locker and pulled out my stuff. I ran as fast as I could down the hall to room 56 and there I saw my teacher, Mrs. Elliott waiting for the rest of the class to arrive.
"BBBRRRIIIINNNGGG, BBBRRRIIIINNNGGG!" the school bell rang.
I was so happy I made it on time. As the rest of my class filed in, i saw my best friend Nini through a small piece of paper at me.

          “Hey!” I shouted at her.
          "read it!" she whispered

But we learned something important; if you dream and believe big, you will reach and achieve big!

candy

Candy. Candy. Everywhere. All of my Halloween candy all over the floor of my living room.  In Ellie's pile, there was 101 snickers. In my pile there was 50 packets of m&ms. Then my sister had 47 crunches. And in Marijke's pile there was 48 Hershey bars. Then in my friend lily's pile, 34  suckers. Then in my friend Hannah's pile we had 53 twizzlers.

the wall VI

In Janipur, their are 4 jobs, (none of these are good!) the Cleaners, the Builders, the Drivers, and the Sick Keepers. In Janipur, you don't always have a job though. the ones without jobs are called The Lifeless, and they usually end up jumping.
Then this is what my society looks like. First, imagine the ugliest, most abandoned, creepiest place you've ever seen. Times that by 100. then paint it gray and chip it up and fill it with people in rags. That is probably what Janipur looks like. Next imagine the busiest, cleanest, biggest, newest city you've ever seen. Make it covered in beautiful grass and flowers and paint it green, blue, red, gray, and white. That's probably what Loysal looks like. Everyone knows who their parents are. they see them once a year. Mine are from Loysal, which makes me Loysalian. My best friend, Estiha Kering, on the other hand is Janipuran. So, If we were adults, we would never be allowed to communicate unless I was a wall guard or government worker and she came up to me.

The wall part III

By the way did I ever say my name? Ah yes, I'm Silenia Astes. Silenia is a popular name in my world. It means silent and fierce.  I'm 13. The year where my fait gets decided. Whether I am Janipur or Loysal. Everyone knows I'll be Loysal. I Always agree to everyone and everything. I don't exactly have my own opinion.
By the way this is how my society works. There are the Loysal and Janipur. Then there is the Children Keeping, where all the children are kept till they're 13. Inside Loysal, there are 5 jobs.
Governments, wall guarders, teachers, food suppliers, and runners.

Phones

                                Phones!

My family quietly walked into the AT&T store. I was so exited!  Earlier that week, my parents had told me that I would be getting my own cell phone. You see, my brother and sister knew they were getting phones for around a month.   My parents said it was for safety reasons and schedule changes and bl-blab-bl-blabbla and stuff, but I didn't care. I just wanted a phone. My brother and sister are 12 and I'm 10. We are all getting our first phones. And I'm getting mine before they ever got their first phones. A lady Called out to us and said “Nelson family! Are you guys ready to see some cool phones?” We all looked at all the cool phones. We thought for a while about the phones we wanted. I chose the Samsung S5 mini. Then we got to pick out cases. I picked out a super cool pink case. Then we waited for the phones and data plans to get set. It felt like five hours until we were done with that.  But sadly the person setting up our phones messed up so we had to wait like an extra 1/2 hour. Finally, our phones were ready. We spent the rest of the day exploring them!
