                       On the Book Wonder by R.J. Palacio

Do you have to look like everyone else? You might say yes. But in reality, being different is better.  In the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio, 10 year old August (Auggie) Pullman doesn’t like this rule. Auggie has cranial facial deformity which has caused him to have to behome-schooled all his life. But soon, Auggie's parents decided it was time for him to start school. He goes through many challenges, but makes some friends along the way. To me, this book shows us that people can work together,even when there are minor, major, or extreme differences.

 In the beginning of the book,you can see Auggie overcoming things with his friends.  For example, during The Halloween party, Jack, Auggie's best friend says bad things about Auggie right in front of him. Auggie gets mad, but stays in school after his mom, his sister, and Summer being kind to him.but when jack will finds out what he did he texts: "hey, august. its me jack will. i noticed im not on ur friends list anymore.hope u friend me agen cuz im really sorry. i just wanted to say that. sorry. i know why ur mad at me now im sorry i didn't mean the stuff i said. i was so stupid. i hope u can 4give me." after this auggie is still a little mad, but forgives him anyway.This shows that he can be brave, with help, even in hard times. This is especially hard for him because of his physical differences, but auggie shows us that you can overcome anything, even if you’re different.

Also in this story, you can see Auggie's friends being kind and working together. They help him even if it affects their popularity. For example, when Auggie lost his hearing aids, Auggie’s friends (and frenemies) helped fight off the people trying to steal them, and then looked for them afterwards. This shows that people can care about others even if they look or act a little different. This also shows that you don’t have to be someone’s best friend to help them.
Towards the end of the story, you can see many examples of Auggie and his friends come together.when Auggie is brave and his friends at helpful and kind,great things happen.  For instance, when auggie wins the award and Mr. Tushman says "Now will August Pullman come up here to receive this award?" Auggie's friends help him up there and cheer him on. this shows teamwork because his friends cheer him on. also, he would never have gotten this without his friends.
to me, this story shows us that, we can all be different, on the inside and out. You don’t have to dress like the person sitting in front of you. You can be different. Different isn’t nessicerly bad, different is good. And if your friends are true friends, they like you for you, not what you wear. Be true to yourself, and your friends will still appericiate you.

seussical

I can' t wait to see the play! I don't know if I will see it, but I want to. I know a lot of people in it, and I would have been in it (hopefully) if I didn't have dance on the days of the choice hour. I think the characters in it are funny, the costumes are cool, and the songs are good. I want to see it mostly because I was in Seussical with project daydream, and I loved it. I want to see my friends, plus it just seems good.

Dress Rehersal

since i have a dance competition this weekend, we have to have a dress rehearsal, without makeup. this is bad because i have to saty up late. the rehersal ends at 9;30. i don't like satying up late when i have school the next day, because i have to wake up REALLY early. so this is really annoying. but i like to perform my dance for other classes, especially the senior competition (13-15) and advanced senior (16-18).

forensics

today, i had forensics as my choice hour. i found out that i had to be memorized by this FRIDAY. well, i would be totally fine with that, but i haven't started memorizing. i will have to work very hard and read my piece. a lot. i am doing a piece called pinkalicious. i am very excited about this because when i was little i loved this book. i can't wait for the first competition, because i will hopefully do great!

AHW:random picture writing

for my AHW, i decided to write a story about a random picture i found offline. i have the picture on the left and the words above it.
the squirrel was just sitting on the tree as the flew up. the bird had a piece of bread in his mouth, and dropped it by the squirrel. the squirrel stared at the bread, then at the bird.
 "Go ahead, eat it." the bird sang.
 "why did you give me this? i don't know you, and you should be saving this. it's winter, and you should stalk up your food." the squirrel. replied.
"everyone knows a chipmunk stole your food. i have a lot, and you need to live through winter."the bird chirped.
the animals talked a while longer. the squirrel realized that the bird did not have a nest, so the bird would move in with the squirrel, and the squirrel had lost part of his tail, and couldn't really move. the animals became friends.

Where Am I?

i woke up staggering to breathe. I had no idea where I was. I didn't even remember who I am. People stared at me, I got nervous. My head was hurting like crazy. I Dazed at the ceiling. I couldn't remember where I was, who I was, or why was here. The tallest person with blonde hair looked down on me. I stared up. I looked around.  I was in a small room, and with white-ish walls and a green tiled floor. I was laying on a flat bed, with a single pillow and no sheets. There was about 10 people, and they all looked happy to see me. I wish I felt the same way, but I didn't know who they were.
  "Elinia!" Someone cried.
  "Huh?" I replied.
I didn't know my name, but I don't think it was Elinia.

AHW: ballet

today i had dance practice, which was ballet. there are three people in my ballet class, and one person was missing. we worked on our recital dance, which is really, really fun. but the class was sort of hard because of spots. we haven't seen our costume but i hope it's pretty! the recital theme this year is Winterfest, and i'm really excited. but the weird thing is, my next recital for ballet is in June, so it will be warm (hopefully). our costume is supposed to be really silvery, and well, wintery. so i can't wait to see it.

these jobs seem fun, but also challenging. I don't know whether any of this will actually happen.

These are things that relate to things I love now, and will probably still love. These subjects interest me, challenge me, and are just fun!

Cave Adventure

Anna sat on the swing in her backyard of San Francisco, California and started texting her friend Kali.

  Hey what ya doing??? she texted.

  Getting ready for the ride!!!!!!!!!!! Kali quickly replied.

  What ride??????? Anna typed.

  I'm at the fair, remember???????? Kali texted back.

  oh yeah!!!!! Anna replied.

  gtg, bye!!!!! Kali finished.

   Anna went inside and got a glass of lemonade. She wondered about the field trip in a week.  Oh no!! The field trip was next week and she didn't even have her permission slip. She really wanted to go to the caves. She ran downstairs and asked her mom about the slip.

      "I already gave it to your teacher sweetie pie," her mom answered.

       The next week Anna woke up bright and happy.

     "Today's the field trip!"she cheered. "I better get packed up!"

      Anna grabbed her bag and stuck a flashlight, a bag of batteries, a lunch, and a raincoat inside of it.  She grabbed a hairbrush and started fiercely brushing her hair. Anna ran down stairs, ate some breakfast, and rushed to the car. As her mom pulled up to the school parking lot, Kali ran up to her, looking winded. 

      "What's wrong?"Anna asked.

      "It's the field trip!!" Kali mumbled.

      "I know, what's wrong with that?" Anna replied.

      "I'm not prepared!" Whined Kali.

      "Well, be thankful your best friend brought extra supplies!" Anna cheered.

      "Can I use them, pretty please?" Kali pleaded.

3b. frying his body all day/Jacob Johnson/got a horrible sunburn by afternoon/because the suntan lotion from his brother/became a thin liquid / and dripped into the sand.

4b. all kinds of vegetables/from celery to fresh tomatoes/were laughing or dancing or playing/in the salad bowl/ and the salad dressing/that had been as quiet and unnoticed as the bowl itself/,started giggling with glee

The wall part xi

so, I am going to do it. Tonight. I've packed four pairs of clothes, ten cans of food, ten cans of water, and a old map (probably from 400 years ago!). I hope the map is still at least somewhat accurate. I had told Estiha and Alli about my journey. Estiha said maybe in a year or two she would come find me, and Alli is coming with me. She packed her bag too, so we're leaving. Right now.
I just threw the smoke blast. Alli's up on the wall. I got up too. She threw the blinding smoke blast. We have to start cutting the hole. Alli has the knife.
"Is the hole cut?" I yelled. Alli nodded. The coast was clear. Now all we had to do was jump.
I sat in the hole, wondering what were we going to do. We could never come back. Ever. But, we were bound to find something. Where did all those othe jumpers go? They had to go somewhere! And we were going to find it.
I jumped. Weirdly enough I landed perfectly. Alli landed pretty close to perfect.

The wall prt x

I walked up and put my hand on the touchstone. It seemed to glow very greenish-blue. This never happens. The Leaderess announced."Silenia Astes, you have been put in a very rare group. It is not bad, it is is just different. In this group you will be trained to be a government leader. You will be my replacement. This is only chosen every 50 years, unless something happened. You are the new Leaderess. "
Ooooooooh no!! I couldn't! The stone had made a mistake! I couldn't do this. I wasn't meant for this. I had to leave. I needed to jump. But I had no idea how I was going to. We only had 10 days till we had to go to our groups. And the watchers had their eyes on us every second. But I had to. I needed to get away.
In about an hour of work after the ceremonie, I had made a final plan. I would fake my death so no one would know I left. Then while all the watchers were distracted with the death, I would escape. Then I would throw a smoke blast at the wall guards. They wouldn't notice me start to climb up. Once they stop looking at the smoke blast, I would throw a blind light smoke blast. Then I would take my knife and cut a hole through the wall. Next I would slip through it and be free.

Snow

Ahh, snow. The main part of winter. You need snow to have a winter. I like snow. I know lots and lots of people who would disagree with me, but I think snow is the best part of winter. I love going to my bedroom window and checking to see if it snowed. To me, snow looks like a giant pile of sugar sprinkled on your lawn. I think, and many will agree and/or disagree with me, but I think it is one of the most beautiful things in the world. plus, snow equals snow days. And snow days equal time to hang out and chat with friends. And time not spent in school, which we USUALLY don't have to make up. Snow also makes it possible to do all of my favorite winter things like, skiing,sledding, ice skating, and many more.
 But there are a few things I don't like about snow. The main thing is: snow is cold. I don't like cold. I love the warmth of summer and the beach and getting tan, and I can't do any of that when it's cold. Another thing: snow isn't all year round, and it's not in every place in the world. So when it' winter, I want it to be warm, like summer. And when it's summer I want it to be cool, like winter. So, altogether, I have mixed emotions about the snow and winter. Most are fairly good, others, not as much. Though I do have some bad thoughts, I want to make winter last as long as possible and enjoy every last minute of it.
