It all started so simple
She sat on the bus like any normal day
The driver told her give up her seat
For the white man
They thought she was just tired
But she was just tired of being treated like a second class citizen

She said no
I will stay here because I can
She said no i should have the right to sit here
I'm gonna stay no matter what you say
I can sit here all day

They all got up
And didn't get up on the bus
For over a year they ditched it
Until they got fair rights on,the bus
They ditched it until freedom freedom was for all of us

They said no
We will stay here because can
They said no
We should have the right to sit here
We're gonna stay here no matter what you say
We can sit here all day

In the end they they stood up for freedom
And they marched until they got it
In Selma Washington and all across American
We sat down and stood up for what was right

We said no
We will stay here because we can
We said no
We should have the right to sit here
We're gonna stay here no matter what you say
We can stay here all day
