can't wait for thanksgiving poem

as the smell of turkey fills the house,.
everyone smiles, without a doubt
someone knocks on the door with a rat-a-tat-tat
things fill with joy, including the cat
this is thanksgiving, a wonderful time
the house is so happy, is that a crime?
prayers of joy, and cheers of laughter,
this is thanksgiving, not the day after
parades fill the streets, balloons fill the sky,
celebratory dinners of that one special night
this is a day of cheers and great peace
when all fight shall hopefully cease


i wrote this poem because i love thanksgiving and i want to show how excited i am for it, and some of the very very many things i specifically love about it. there's probably a looooooooong list that could take up this hole blogpost but i didn't want to write that so instead, i summarized it with some of my most favorite things about it, (except pie, i forgot that) and mad it a fun and cool poem. i

forensics tornament

yesterday I had a forensics tournament. I was in the category multiple. there was one other multiple that we competed against, their piece was mony python and the holy grail, and it was really funny. our piece was spelling bee, which is a famous musical. the other multiple was really good, but we won!! when awards started, I was really nervous. I mean. some of the best people on our team didn't even place! multiple was one of the last categories to be announced, and when it was, I was shaking. but I was so happy we won!! go forensics and go Covington cobras!

dinner theater!

i'm soooo excited!! tomorrow i have something called dinner theatre at school for forensics. i hope everything goes well! dinner theatre works like this: the 7/8 grader and multiple (which i'm in) perform, and the 5/6 graders serve the food. tickets are 10 dollars for kids and $15 for adults. the piece i'm performing in is a multiple based on the play spelling bee. my character is logainne shwartzangrubinere. wish me luck! i can't wait!

good cake recipe

i haven't baked from scratch before, but i did today! i messed up a few things, so it wasn't the best, but it  was okay! here is the recipe i used, some pointers, and how it turned out. recipe from

•  2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 1/2 cups white sugar
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 cup milk 
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9x13 inch pan. Mix together the flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.
    2. In a large bowl, cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add flour mixture alternately with milk, beating just to combine. finally, stir in vanilla. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
    3. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-30 or longer. 
    4. so here are some pointers, remember to use baking powder and not baking soda, there's a difference. follow the recipe exactly. if the cake is to dry, add extra milk, pr put the egg whites in first, and the put in the egg yolks. if you want the cake to be a little chocolaty, right when you pull the cake out of the oven, put a thin layer of chocolate frosting on the tpo and sides.
    5. it didn't turn out the best, but it was still edible. i may have kept it in the oven to long, but it was okay. it was a little bland and dull, and a little salty, but it was okay.

no school

yay! no school!! we have no school and im so excited! having no school is even better than weekends! thank you George Washington for making america a democracy! i usually bake when we don't have school, and i want to try to bake something from scratch. i don't think it will turn out good, but i can give it a shot. i tend to bake from boxes, but i want to try something new. i mean, it's always good to try new things!!

"love you mom!" i said as i walked through the door.
"love you too, stay safe!'" my mom answered.
"we will!!" i replied.
i fixed my little bug ears and walked out the door. this was going to be the best halloween ever. we started to walk to my next door neighbors house to get some halloween candy. i noticed a few drip drip drips on the top of my head.  i ignored them and kept walking. we got up to the door and rang the door bell.
"trick or treat!" we said symotaniously.
a pumkin reeses dropped into my bag.
"happy halloween!" we said as we left.
we went to the next house. my neighbor, andrew sat on the porch and let us pick out what we wanted.
"thank you!"
we trick or treated for a half an hour or so, and the longer we trick or treated, the harder it rained. we saw a car coming, so we stopped. but the car stopped too. we kept walking. the car followed us. we ran. the car kept coming. my friend, abby's house was coming up. we ran all the way there, stopping to get candy along the way.
we knocked on the door.
"trick or treat!" we said
"Oh, hi guys, here!" she pulled out a large bag.
"you guys look cold come in!" she said.
we came in, used the bathroom, and warmed up.
finally, we left. we didn't see the car, so we kept a good pace.
we saw thee car. we ran. and ran. we sopped at a lot of house, and we finally approached my friend lily's house.
